Pedal tone tapping

Aim of the exercise: Practice tapping with some cool neo-classical licks
Exercise type: Tapping
Starting tempo: 60 beats per minute
Duration: 5 minutes

Playing scales on one string and sound like Bach

Tapping is as a technique where you produce notes by hammering on and pulling off the fretboard with the fingers of your picking hand (usually right hand, left if you play leftie guitar). This way you can play legato style with wide interval skips.

In this exercise you will always tap one note on only one string - the pedal tone. You will be moving your fretting hand towards the headstock to play the scale downwards (with tap pull offs). The melody will alternate between the scale and the pedal tone. It'll sound like something straight out of the Baroque period.

B minor

In this first lick only the tap and tap pull off are used. You'll be playing 16th notes.

lick 1

The second lick is a bit harder but it sounds cool. You'll have some more work with the left hand, because of hammer ons, and it's faster because you'll be playing 16th note sextuplets.

lick 2

You can play them on other strings as well! Try to determine which scales you are playing if you play the same pattern on other strings.
