Pentatonic tapping
Simple but cool tapping licks!
In this exercise you will play some simple pentatonic licks that include tapping.
Tapping is as a technique where you produce notes by hammering on and pulling off the fretboard with the fingers of your picking hand (usually right hand, left if you play leftie guitar). This way you can play legato style with wide interval skips.
The licks themselves are very similar to those in the legato exercises, so if you've played them already, this'll be a breeze and you'll be able to focus more on the tapping. You will only be tapping the 12th fret but you'll be moving across all strings!
Pattern three
This is the third pattern of the pentatonic scale. The notes colored blue are the notes you'll be tapping.
Take a deep breath and tap away:
And now for a cool lick that can be played over and over again:
The descending run. Watch out, the rhythm changes in the middle! You'll go from sextuplets to regular 16th notes.
